Delaware and Raritan Canal in Lambertville, NJ

Lambertville, New Jersey is a quaint, riverside town with shopping, hiking, beer-tasting and fine cuisine. The town is walkable and boasts a fantastic view of the Delaware River.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Walk or bike the path along the Delaware and Raritan Canal, which runs parallel to the Delaware River. This canal is quite narrow and shallow, and is great to fish from. Many exercise enthusiasts can be spotted along this path year round.

  2. Step 2

Relax and have some lunch at one of the various eateries in town. The Lambertville Station, located near the Delaware River, has excellent menu choices.

  3. Step 3

Browse the quaint shops and antique stores along Bridge Street. Perhaps now is a good time to digest and take in some stores.

  4. Step 4

Before dinner, unwind and reflect on the day with a visit to the River Horse Brewery. Exclusive local beers are brewed here and you can sample them and tour the site. If you are craving eased elegance, you can visit Left Bank Libations, a pub that has an outdoor patio. Sit back and enjoy a slow glass of wine or River Horse beer.

  5. Step 5

For dinner, enjoy the fresh cuisine at Lilies on the Canal, which has a good view of the Delaware and Raritan Canal.

  6. Step 6

Enjoy the entertainment in Lambertville provided by the Roxey Ballet Company and the Riverside Symphony. Or you can cross the bridge into New Hope, Pennsylvania, and enjoy some theater, local clubs or taverns.

  7. Step 7

Stay the night in Lambertville at The Lambertville House (which has a romantic carriage house), The Martin Coryell House (a bed and breakfast) or The Inn at Lambertville Station, which has many rooms with a view of the Delaware River.
