How to Paint a Stained Glass Plate Charger
Glass paint and stained-glass paint are crafty choices for creating decorative home décor from plain objects. Beginning crafters can use these special paints to turn a plain glass object into a work of art. Design a stained-glass plate charger that can enhance your dining table or a wall in your home. Stencils simplify the process if you are not artistically gifted, or you can draw lines to make separations on the plate for the colors in the stained-glass palate.

1
Clean a clear glass plate charger with glass cleaner and dry it completely. Handle the clean charger with white cotton gloves from this point forward. Fingerprints on the charger may be visible through the paint.
-
2
Place the charger face up or face down on a flat work surface. The side you choose to paint is up to you. Draw lines on the charger with a black marker to create individual sections that vary in size and shape. This will result in a mosaic-style stained-glass pattern. You can also use a stencil to create a design on the center of the plate, and then create sections around it.

3
Trace over the black lines with a black glass-paint pen. If you are only planning to use the charger as decoration, create raised black lines on the plate with black caulking or liquid leading. Allow the design lines to dry completely.
-
4
Squirt a small amount of stained-glass paint inside one of the sections in the center of the plate. Spread the paint inside the black outline with a fine-tipped artist brush.
-
5
Work from the center of the plate outward to fill in all of the sections with paint. Use different colors of paint to create a mosaic design. If air bubbles arise, pop them with a toothpick.
