Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Candy hearts
- Power drill
- Fishing line
- Beads
- Needle
- 1/16 inch drill bit
- Clear spray paint
Preparing the Beads
Step1
Open the bag of candy hearts. Choose a few broken or damage hearts to practice drilling.
Step2
Use the tiny drill bit on your power drill to drill holes through the hearts. Start on the right side and drill through the candy heart and out the left.
Step3
Drill holes through as many hearts as you need for the Valentine’s Day garland.
Step4
Lay the drilled candy hearts out on a sheet of newspaper.
Step5
Spray the hearts with a coat of clear spray paint. Let the paint dry, flip them over and spray the backs as well.
Assembling the Candy Heart Necklace
Step1
Cut off a piece of fishing line about 5 feet long. Tie one end in a knot. Slip one candy heart onto the fishing line string.
Step2
Slip a bead onto the fishing line next. Try to use a bead in an accent color like red as most writing on candy hearts is also red.
Step3
Continue slipping on alternating candy hearts and beads until the whole length of garland is full.
Step4
Tie the end of the fishing line into a knot to hold the Valentine’s day garland craft together.
