Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Beeswax sheets
- Exacto knife
- Paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Hair dryer
- Hot glue
- Clear glass candle botives
- Tape measure
Step1
Measure how tall each glass candle votive is. Measure the circumference as well. You will need one glass candle votive for each letter in “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
Step2
Cut out one sheet of beeswax to the size of each glass candle votive. Make them ½ inch wider so they can overlap when wrapped around the jar.
Step3
Roll out more sheets of beeswax in accent colors. Cut letters out of the accent beeswax color sheet. You will need all the letters to spell out “Happy Valentine’s Day.” Cookie cutters in alphabet shapes cut easily through sheets of beeswax.
Step4
Lay out all the sheets of beeswax squares. Place one letter on each sheet of beeswax.
Step5
Plug the hair dryer in. Pick up the first letter and gently heat the back of it with the hairdryer. Heat the middle front of the sheet of corresponding beeswax as well.
Step6
Press the letter into place on the front of the beeswax square and press into place. Apply more heat with the hair dryer as needed.
Step7
Continue this process until each letter is attached to the front of its own square of beeswax.
Step8
Gently heat the first sheet of beeswax all over. Start to bend it around the glass candle votive. Continue to apply heat until you can bend the sheet of wax around the votive and overlap the back edges of wax.
Step9
Run a bead of hot glue down the back of the edge of beeswax. Overlap the other edge and press into place. Hold until the glue has cooled and the candle votive is wrapped in beeswax.
Step10
Continue covering each glass candle votive in one of the final letters to spell out “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
