How to Become a Good Regular at a New Bar

Whether you are new to town or there is a new bar opening in your neighborhood, first impressions go a long way on both sides of the bar. Follow these steps and you'll have a place where everyone knows your name.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Good attitude

Step1
Learn the bartender's name. Bartenders respond better to their names than to shouts of Hey! and You!
Step2
Don't hit on the staff. If someone takes a shine to you, they'll let you know. Nobody, however, wants to be known as that creepy guy who hits on all the waitresses.
Step3
If you get drunk, behave. Nobody wants a problem drunk at the bar, even if he is a great tipper.
Step4
Tip adequately. You don't have to be a monster tipper to be respected. Twenty percent is always appreciated, but never less than $1.

Tips & Warnings

  • The bartender is not your therapist.
