The United States Space and Rocket Center, opened in 1970, is located on the west side of Huntsville, Alabama. The center is home to over 1500 pieces of rocket and space hardware as well as an IMAX theater and an array of exhibits about the history of the U.S space program.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Purchase tickets. Tickets to the US Space and Rocket Center are available at the museum's ticket desk. A discount is offered to children, ages six through twelve. Children under six are admitted free of charge. The Center is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
Step2
View the rockets. The outdoor displays at the US Space and Rocket Center include over a dozen rockets and space hardware. Among these are a Saturn V rocket, a Centaur G-Prime upper stage rocket and the "Pathfinder" orbiter.
Step3
Explore the indoor exhibits. The indoor exhibits feature an array of inter-active displays as well as a variety of space artifacts and hardware. On display are the Apollo 16 capsule, a G-force accelerator and a space simulator.
Step4
Watch a film in the IMAX Theater. The IMAX Theater, adjacent to the Center, was one of the first such theaters in the United States. A separate admission applies to the theater, but there is a combination package that includes both admission to the center and the IMAX Theater. Recent films have included "Hurricane on the Bayou," "The Magic of Flight" and "Magnificent Desolation."
