Nothing like spaghetti with a hearty helping of meatballs! If you've ever wanted to make homemade meatballs along with your spaghetti for that authentic Italian restaurant taste, try this quick and easy recipe for basic homemade meatballs.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 & 1/2 pounds of ground beef
  • 1/3 cup of bread crumbs
  • 1 Tablespoon of parsley (fresh or dried)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1/3 cup of grated cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of garlic salt

Step1
In a large bowl, mix all ingredients. Mixture will be wet but not too dry.
Step2
Take pieces of the mixture and shape into round balls at any desired size.
Step3
Fry in a frying pan until brown, or you can place into a pot of spaghetti sauce and cook until meatballs are brown and no longer pink on the inside. Add over spaghetti and sauce, or if your meatballs are already in the sauce spoon over cooked spaghetti with a ladle.

Tips & Warnings

  • For extra flavor you can add bits of sharp cheddar to the meatball mixture. You can also add the contents of your preferred soup & dip mix which will add an extra zing to the meatball flavor.
  • Cooking meatballs in spaghetti sauce, as opposed to frying, will make the meatballs more tender. When fried, the outer coating of meatballs tends to be somewhat more tough and hard than those cooked in sauce.
  • You can cook the meatballs in a traditional red spaghetti sauce, or you can cook them in (or with) an Alfredo sauce.
  • Instead of spaghetti you can use angel hair pasta, penne pasta, or any other pasta you desire.
  • If frying meatballs in a frying pan, it is best to use oil, however beware that when extremely hot oil can "spit" and splatter causing potential burns.
  • Whether you are frying the meatballs or cooking them in a pot of spaghetti sauce, make sure to cook them until they are no longer pink on the inside.
