It's that time of year again. Christmas decorations in the windows, the tree is up, the house is strung with lights. The kids are off school, and you want to make a memento to remember this year with them. How about making a Christmas tree ornament from easy-to-make dough? After the dough is made, you cut it out with cookie cutter shapes, let it dry, paint it and seal it. Then you have an ornament that will last forever. Here's a recipe for cookie dough ornaments that will get you started.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup water
  1. Step 1

    Mix salt and flour together.

  2. Step 2

Add half the water, then stir. Add remaining water. Add food coloring for fun colored dough.

  3. Step 3

Knead until smooth. This can take awhile, perhaps 10 minutes.

  4. Step 4

Roll out dough on baking paper. Dust with flour.

  5. Step 5

You're ready to cut out the ornaments with a cookie cutter. Use cookie cutters or a knife to make shapes. Use a toothpick for details.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't forget to make a hole in the top of ornament with a straw for hanging.
