Step 1
Explain to your child why this subject is important by showing him how the knowledge will be relevant later in life. For example, if she hates math, but loves building things, you can explain how necessary math is to architecture. Explain how doing something as simple as picking the correct nail to make a dog house involves math.
-
Step 2
Teach the subject with the help of field trips. Take your son to a fun cooking class and while he is busy cooking and have fun, show him how this fun activity is heavily reliant on the ability to read and follow instructions.
-
Step 3
Make it fun. If your child hates history, integrate trivia games into history lessons. Write plays and act out important historic events. Watch history movies complete with popcorn and soft drinks.
-
Step 4
Teach the subjects along with their favorite subject. If your child history, but finds science distasteful, teach integrate a bit of science into history lessons. When dealing with a particular time period, be sure to talk about what inventions influenced the society.
-
Step 5
Reward them. Sometimes a little bribe in necessary to keep a child motivated to learn subjects they find distasteful. Do not get carried away with the bribes however.
