Things You'll Need:
- 3 egg whites
- 4 cups thinly sliced tart apples (cored and peeled)
- 1 1/2 cups vanilla yogurt
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup un-sweetened applesauce
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch salt
- 3 teaspoons divided pure vanilla extract

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. While it is heating up, move on to the next step in preparation of the vanilla glazed apple cake.

In a large mixing bowl, beat egg whites until frothy. Add applesauce and sugar and then stir until well blended.

In a small to medium mixing bowl, use a whisk to whip together all of the dry ingredients. Add these dry ingredients and 2 tsp. vanilla to the egg-white mixture. Mix well until all of the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

Grease a 9-inch springform pan and layer the apples across to cover the entire bottom of the pan. Spread the applesauce batter over the layer of apples.

Bake in the oven, at 350 degrees for approximately 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when put into the center. Apple cake smells so good when it comes out of the oven, and just wait until you add the vanilla glaze.

Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes and then remove it from the spring form pan. After it is completely cooled down, put the cooled cake on a cake plate.

To make the glaze for the finishing touches, mix together the remaining ingredients, the yogurt, brown sugar, and one tsp. of the pure vanilla. Drizzle all over the top of the cake. You can also coat the entire outside to make the vanilla glazed apple cake.

Serve after dinner, alone or with ice cream and coffee. It could be one of the best parts of the meal. It yields approximately 12.
