How to Make Simple Sweet and Sour Sauce

Sweet and sour sauce was made famous through delicious Chinese cuisine. This little red sauce is extremely versatile and tastes great on almost everything. Sweet and sour sauce is so easy to make, you'll soon consider it a great standby for meatballs, cocktail sausages, chicken nuggets, wontons, egg rolls and more. Things You'll Need

  • 16 ounces barbecue sauce
  • 4 ounces grape jelly
  • Finely crushed pineapple, optional
  • Pineapple or orange juice, optional

      Pour the barbecue sauce into a saucepan or slow cooker.

      Add about 1/4 to 1/2 cup grape jelly.

      Stir well and simmer on low for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring every few minutes to keep it from burning.

      Sweeten the sauce a little more by adding 1/8 cup of finely crushed pineapple or pineapple chunks, depending on the desired consistency. If you prefer smooth sauce but still wanted the added sweetness, use 1/8 cup pineapple juice or orange juice.
