Things You'll Need:
- Computer with Internet connection
-
Step 1
Sign up to use Time4Learning program. This is a subscription based program with an automatic payment agreement. You can cancel your subscription at anytime, and the low price makes it ideal for those on a budget.
-
Step 2
After signing your child up to use Time4Learning, you will want to look over all of the units in each subject and make a list of which units you want your child to complete. My children often started at the beginning of each unit and moved forward, sometimes going right to the test for units that looked easy. However, we found that doing all of the units could be repetitive or redundant. Time4Learning’s scope and sequence pages can help you determine what your child needs to cover each year according to your state’s standards.
-
Step 3
As your child works through and completes each unit, keep yourself available to them to supervise them to make sure they stay focused and on track. You will also need to be available should your child have any questions.
-
Step 4
Using the parents' sign in page, you can evaluate your children’s progress on the worksite. As the parent, you can decide the minimum grade that is acceptable for your child to get in any unit. Personally, I demanded 90 percent or better from my children to make sure they mastered the materials. If they did not get a 90 percent grade in a unit, I had them go back and do the unit lesson and tests again.
-
Step 5
Supplement Time4learning with other materials such as reading books, penmanship practice and science labs. Sometimes doing things online is just not the same as in person. In addition, the reading exercises use book excerpts. When we were using Time4learning, we often purchased or checked out the book from the library because my child’s interest had been piqued.
