How to Create a Chart in SPSS

SPSS is a statistical procedure that can create charts of high resolution and graphs to precision. At times you might find it a bit challenging, especially if you are not software savvy. Take it a step at a time and soon it will all fall into place for you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • SPSS download

Step1
Create a chart. From the menus choose Graphs and then chart builder. Click the Gallery tab, click Bar, drag he Clustered Bar icon onto the canvas.
Step2
Scroll down the Variables list and right click the variable of your choice. Choose Nomonal as the measurement level. Drag that same variable to the x axis.
Step3
SPSS makes accurate and precise charts and graphs. Needing another variable to use in making the chart you will then right click the second variable, choosing Nominal as its measurement level.
Step4
Drag that variable to the cluster drop zone in the upper right corner of the canvas. Click OK to create the chart.

Tips & Warnings

  • The chart will be displayed in the viewer. This should verify your hypothesis.
  • You can copy and paste your results in another application.
  • If you need to Edit, just double click the contents in the pane of the viewer window.
