From Quick Guide: Burger Joints and Barbecue
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small bowl
  • 1 pound ground turkey meat
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 cup salsa
  • Dash of worstershire
  • 4 slices pepper jack cheese
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 teaspoon mayonnaise
  • Minced garlic
  • Dash hot pepper sauce
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Barbecue grill or George Foreman
  1. Step 1

Preheat barbecue or George Foreman grill.

  2. Step 2

In a large bowl, combine turkey meat with ground cumin and salsa. Mix until combined, but do not overmix.

  3. Step 3

Shape the meat mixture into 4 burger patties.

  4. Step 4

Grill burgers on a preheated grill, turning once after about 5 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Wash hands thoroughly after handling meat.

  6. Step 6

While the burgers are cooking, mash peeled avocado in a small bowl. Add mayonnaise, a clove of minced garlic, a dash of salt and a dash of hot pepper sauce. Chill in refrigerator while burgers are cooking.

  7. Step 7

When burgers are cooked to desired doneness (usually about 4 to 5 minutes per side and until there are no pink juices running out of them), add a slice of pepper jack cheese on top of each burger. Let it melt for 30 seconds.

  8. Step 8

Put a leaf of lettuce on the bottom of each hamburger bun, then top with the cooked burger. Put a dollop of the avocado mixture on top of each burger.

  9. Step 9

Serve with more salsa on the side, if desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don’t like the taste of pepper jack cheese, use cheddar, colby or Monterey jack cheese instead.
  • Never let raw meat touch uncooked ingredients. Wash hands and all utensils thoroughly after handling raw meat.
