Establishing and growing your online business depends heavily on driving targeted traffic to your website. With these proven steps you will soon be partnering with leading authority sites resulting in more traffic and sales for your online business.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Proactively look for the most credible, trusted, successful leaders in your marketspace. These sites tend to be the highest rated on Google and Alexa, look professional, have been around for some time and often have active discussion forums, blogs with frequent updates of new content.
Step2
Don't expect to reel in the biggest names right at the beginning - try them, but be satisfied with the middle tier since the smaller players sometimes provide the best results.
Step3
Be professional, on target, and do your homework before contacting potential partners - study their website, their business model, their marketing methods, their message to market match so you can come to them with obvious and sincere interest in their business. You want to help them offer something terrific to their subscribers, customers and visitors.

Tips & Warnings

  • Where possible, organize your launch as an event - they are either on-board or not. They have to feel some urgency to respond. If you are wishy washy about the launch or keep it open to their schedule, they will not feel the urgency nor will they experience the scarcity of missing something major.
  • Offer to produce something "custom" for their list or website visitors - for example, an audio expecially for them, a video, custom articles or promotional materials.
  • You may want to consider running a contest with extra giveaways for the top 3 affiliates. Giving away electronic devices, Amazon gift certificates, or other popular gadgets related to your market is a great way to build interest and differentiate your partner program.
  • What are your commissions per sale on the front-end and any back-end products? Is it enough to get your target audience excited? The percentage AND amount of commission need to be interesting enough and competitive enough for your partners.
  • Check your sales letter - often I am excited initially by a JV, but then see the marketing system and find fundamental flaws or lack of professionalism at some stage of the process (usually the sales letter), such that I would never expose my list to the campaign.
  • Do not ask for the help of major authority figures before you have established contact and a relationship
  • Avoid targeting partners whose target audience does not align well with your own
  • Most of all, keep from using major partners as your "test bed", instead test your sales message, partner tools and website conversion with smaller partners until you have the wrinkles ironed out.
