With winter upon us, many people want to get away to warmer climates, if only for a moment. Depending on where you live that could be easy and inexpensive to do. From New York City, here are some fun and easy-to-get-to places that will not cost your life's savings. Most of them have great beaches to romp on. These are in the $100 to $250 ticket price range at various airlines when you book at least 3 weeks in advance. Keep in mind that the further in advance that you book your flight, the cheaper the ticket usually is.

1. Florida: There are numerous places to visit in this state. To get to Miami, take American Airlines, US Airways or Delta Airlines for the low price of approximately $170 if booked now for travel toward the end of this month. To get to Fort Lauderdale, take Jet Blue Airways or Delta Airlines for approximately $130 to $150 depending on which airport you depart from. West Palm Beach is accessible by Sun Country Airlines or Jet Blue Airways for ticket prices ranging from $110 to $160.

2. Puerto Rico: With its colorful culture and beautiful geography, of course you want to go to Puerto Rico to get away from it all. Delta Airlines, American Airlines and Jet Blue Airways currently have the best fares ranging between $230 and $250.

3. Las Vegas: Although the weather may only be 25 to 30 degrees warmer than New York City right now, it is still warmer. Ticket prices are a little higher to get to Las Vegas. Northwest Airlines tickets start at $250. If you have never been, or had a blast the last time you were there, you know that with the numerous activities, it will still be well worth the trip to get away to this exciting place.

4. Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic: A city that never sleeps, Santo Domingo is known for its nightclubs, shopping and restaurants. It is also the oldest American settlement, beautiful, and full of exciting things to do. American Airlines currently offers the best deal to this favorite hot spot with prices beginning at $198.

5. San Jose, Costa Rica: Known for having great clubs, bars, restaurants, and shopping, Costa Rica also has a mild climate with temperatures ranging from 60 to 80 degrees all year round. Mexicana, US Airways, American Airlines and Continental offer the best deals to this sunny haven. Prices for tickets range from $209 to $249 when last checked.

• Remember to reserve your ticket at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance for the best deal.
• Most of us will have a long weekend coming up because of several federal holidays. Plan now!
• Ticket prices vary on different websites. For example, American Airlines may have a ticket from LaGuardia (LGA) to Miami (MIA) priced slightly more expensive than Orbitz.com. Do a little checking around before jumping on the first great deal you find.
