Baby Eel Tofu, also known by some as "Tofu Hell," is a fascinating delicacy found in Japan. Although the process of preparing baby eel tofu is really quite simple, it is the concept that makes this dish so renowned: 'tofu hell' is created by boiling baby eels alive in a block of tofu.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take a bowl of water, and slowly boil.

  2. Step 2

Place a large cube of tofu into the bowl.

  3. Step 3

Immediately add live baby eels. To escape the heat, the baby eels burrow into the still-cold tofu.

  4. Step 4

Boil until tofu itself is cooked. The baby eels will be cooked inside.

  5. Step 5

Remove tofu, which will be riddled with holes like swiss cheese. Serve like raisin loaf.
