How to create an icon in Photoshop.

Ever wanted to know how to create a cool icon for yourself? Wonder no more my friend this step by step tut will show you how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Photoshop 7 or higher
  • A nice picture
  • A great imagination

Step1
Open up Photoshop.
Step2
Picture of a Kitty Open the photo you have chosen. Go to File>Open.
Step3
Next go to File>New and make the dimensions 100 x 100 Pixels. Once that is complete click on your original picture. On the toolbox select the Rectangle Marquee tool. Place it around the entire picture. There should now be a blinking line all around your image.
Step4
Next go to Edit>Copy. Then click on the blank canvas. Then click Edit>Paste. You should see your new image on the new canvas. If it is to big then go to Edit>Free Transform and use the handles to resize the picture so that it fits in the window. Then click the arrow on the toolbox. A message will pop up click Apply.
Step5
Once this is completed go to Layer>New>Layer and then name the layer TEXT.
Step6
Next click the T on the toolbox. Once you have to cursor Type in your chosen text.
Step7
Finished Now whatever you do from here in the way of embellishments is completely up to you. ENJOY!
