The pleaser bet is the single most exciting wager in sports. A gambler is trading away even odds on a line in favor for a higher payout. This style of wagering is useful when you believe that 2 or more teams are going to beat the Vegas spread by several points. The pleaser is not for beginners and is only used in basketball and football. Basically, it allows gamblers to wager less and win more.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Newspaper/Computer
  • A place to make wagers
  1. Step 1

Reverse the teaser. In a teaser, the gambler gets 6 points added to each team's line. A pleaser does the opposite. The gambler instead gives 6 points from the odds line.

  2. Step 2

Subtract points from the underdog. Most pleaser bets are 6 points. If the Red Skins are +8, the pleaser line would become +2.

  3. Step 3

Add points if the team is a favorite. If the Dallas line is -10, add 6 points for the pleaser and the line becomes -16.

  4. Step 4

Decide how many teams you would like in your pleaser bet. Traditionally, pleaser bets range from 2 to 6 teams. The more teams you bet, the bigger the winnings. For example, a $100 2 team pleaser pays $600. Whereas a $100 6 team pleaser pays $30,000. The odds are the following:
    2 teams: 6/1
    3 teams: 17/1
    4 teams: 45/1
    5 teams: 120/1
    6 teams: 300/1

  5. Step 5

Know the rules. If one of the teams in your 2-team pleaser ends in a tie, then the gambler is paid even money. If 2 of the teams in a 2-team pleaser tie, then it is considered a push. However, these rules can vary.

  6. Step 6

Watch the games and hope for the best. If one of your pleaser teams does not cover the spread, you lose the entire bet.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is hard enough to hit a regular straight-up bet. Pleaser bets are very difficult which is why the payout is so great.
  • The intricate details of the pleaser bet vary from site to site and in Vegas. Sometimes a push is considered a loss for example.
  • If you have a gambling problem, seek help. Don't chase losses.
  • Please note that sports book gambling is illegal in the United States except in Las Vegas.
