Grocery shopping can be quite the annoyance if you have to do once a week. It can also become quite expensive if not done properly. With some strategic planning, you can grocery shop only once a month and still be able to prepare your family balanced, healthy meals each evening.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make a list of the meals you’d like to make throughout the month. You don’t necessarily need to make a day-by-day menu of what you’ll cook throughout the week. Simply list some of the items that you would like to cook during the upcoming month.

  2. Step 2

Make a list of everything that you need to buy before heading to the grocery store. By making a thorough grocery list before going to the store, you’ll be less likely to forget anything.

  3. Step 3

Buy plenty of frozen meals, soups and even cereals at the store. You can keep these items in your home for a month or more without having to worry about them going bad. They’re also quick and easy fixes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

  4. Step 4

Plan to eat a variety of foods throughout the month. Fresh fruits and vegetables will only last so long in your home. However, you can buy frozen vegetables and canned fruit as well as juices at the grocery store that will last you the entire month.

  5. Step 5

Plan to go to more than one store on the day of your grocery shopping. Doing so will provide you the opportunity to pick up every item that you need and also get the best prices on those items.

  6. Step 6

Be sure to budget accordingly. Grocery shopping once a month will affect your bank account differently than your normal grocery shopping routine. Be sure to adjust your finances and plan for your trip to the grocery store at the most ideal time of the month for you.
