Extra large paper clips can be found at dollar stores, office supply stores, or chain stores such as Walmart or Target. They make great add on’s to any gift for decoration that is also usable.
Depending on the gift or theme will decide the type of decoration you do, so first make your choice on the theme and then decide what you would like your extra decoration to be and what is plausible for you to make.
Example: For a baby shower try a baby duck, diaper, bottle, or pacifier.
Step2
Plan to make the decoration three to four layers, so once you have decided on your object you are making, decide what shape to make each layer.
Example: For a baby duck the back layer is just an over all color like blue, circular, done in a scalloped cut on the edges. Layer two is the duck in yellow. Layer three is the diaper on the baby duck in white.
Step3
Decorate each layer as you wish with stamps, glitter, pen outlines, or other stand out features.
Step4
Place the back layer down on a flat surface. Then place the paper clip on top of the back layer and glue into place, preferably clear glue, and allow to dry. Remember the end of the paper clip that can hold stuff faces downward.
Step5
Place a pop dot in the center of the paper clip that is glued down to the back layer, the pop dot should be as thick as or a little thicker than the paper clip. Then place the next layer on the pop dot and stick firmly.
Step6
Place the last layer on top either by another smaller pop dot if you want it to stick out or glue it flat if you want it to not stick out as much.
Step7
You can attach your decoration to any card or gift basket by simply using the paper clip end to clip onto the side of the card or plastic wrap of the gift.
Tips & Warnings
The paper clip can even be used to close a pastry bag for goody gifts for the holidays or birthdays, enclose a cupcake or cookies in a bakers bag and close with the paper clip and have the decoration as a birthday cake, Christmas tree, multiple stars, holly, or even just word art.
