Not everyone has room to have food storage piled up in shelves and closets, so it sometimes becomes necessary to become creative in how to store the food without being so obvious.
First organize your food storage into things that you use regularly and things that can be put up and used not as often, say monthly. Create a list and then separate your items.
Step2
Put things not used as regularly in large buckets for being put away such as: sugar, flour, spaghetti noodles, oatmeal, powder milk, and any other type of noodles or oats. Keep a small canister of these items in the kitchen for everyday use, and then the backup supply in the large containers for refill.
Step3
Place a large plastic bag inside the large bucket and put the contents of the item you are storing into the plastic bag, tightly wrap the bag up and place an elastic clasp around it to keep air out of it. Then place the lid on the bucket and close securely.
Step4
Arrange the buckets as a coffee table in front of the couch by lining two up side by side. Place a decorative table cloth to match the furniture over top to completely hide the buckets. For extra stability a plywood board can be placed on top of the buckets before placing the table cloth on top, or a glass top can be placed on top after the cloth is in place.
Step5
For a side table, place four buckets in line, two by two. Then again for stability a plywood board can be place on top. Then place a table cloth on top and hang to the bottom to cover the buckets.
Step6
The buckets can also be used to help make shelves. Place two at the bottom, approximately five to seven feet apart and then place a wooden board, either six or eight feet long on top, and then stack two more buckets on top of that board aligned with the previous buckets. Proceed until you have attained the number of shelves you would like.
Step7
If you don’t like the appearance of the buckets for the shelves, a board can be placed in front of the buckets and stained or painted according to your taste to help hide it and still be accessible on the side for use.
