Peeling paint can be caused by moisture or even remaining wallpaper paste left behind after wallpaper removal.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paint scraper
  • Fine sandpaper
  • Paint brush
  • Acrylic primer
  • Acrylic paint
  • Plastic or material drop cloths
  1. Step 1

Scrape off the peeled paint area

  2. Step 2

Sand down the remaining paint edges to ensure a smooth surface and paint adhesion.

  3. Step 3

Paint surface with primer and allow to dry thoroughly.

  4. Step 4

Paint on a second coat if needed and to give the topcoat better coverage.

  5. Step 5

Paint on the topcoat color and feather out so you don't leave any hard edges. You should only need one coat since the primer covered the repaired area.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to always allow paint coats to dry thoroughly before applying top coats.
  • Feathering is the method of painting and lifting the brush to leave a soft edge.
