Baking tofu is a simple, easy way to add texture and flavor to just about any meal.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • firm tofu
  • your favorite dressing
  • shallow pan or cookie sheet
  • your oil of choice
  1. Step 1

Pre-heat oven to 375. Oil a shallow pan or cookie sheet.

  2. Step 2

Slice or cube the tofu in 1" strips or pieces. Then place the tofu on the pan in a single layer.

  3. Step 3

Cover each piece of tofu with your favorite dressing depending on how you want to use it. For example: Italian/vinaigrette dressings to add tofu to a salad or wrap; creamy dressings to add tofu to a pot pie or casserole; tomato based dressings to add tofu to chili, stew, soup, etc.

  4. Step 4

Bake in oven for 30 to 45 minutes. Stir tofu and/or turn over and cover with additional dressing, and bake for about 30 minutes more. Allow to cool for a few minutes and then your tofu should be ready to add to any of your favorite recipes, or ready to eat all by itself. The wonderful thing about tofu is that it taste better the next day. Happy eating!

Tips & Warnings
  • Please note, tofu can be marinated 2 hours or longer prior to baking. The longer the better for flavor absorption. Also, tofu can be chopped/mashed real fine to resemble your favorite ground meat, and baked in the same way as above. You only have to tweak the directions a little. For example, if you want to make tacos, use your favorite taco seasoning packet for about 1 to 1/2 lbs of tofu. Once mashed add about 2 tbs oil and the seasoning packet, combine well, and bake as above until almost completely dry. The tofu should be crumbly. In this manner, you could use spaghetti seasoning packets, enchilada seasoning packets, etc., etc., etc. Your taste is your only limitation!!
  • Use a potholder to remove your pan, it will be hot!!
  • When adding cooked tofu to a salad, cooling it off will prevent wilting of your salad greens.
