In the Southwest, Easter means many things. Here Easter means the Easter bunny, chocolate and cascarones, or confetti eggs. They may be a little complicated to make but it can be accomplished with a good parent-child team.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Eggs
  • Confetti
  • Tissue paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Egg dye
  1. Step 1

First take out the number of eggs you want to have made into cascarones. With a pointed instrument, make one tiny hole on one end of the egg and a large hole in the opposite end.

  2. Step 2

Using the tiny hole in your egg, blow the contents of the egg out of the larger hole and into a bowl. You will need to be thinking of how to cook up the number of eggs you choose to use later.

  3. Step 3

Leave these holed egg shells out to dry for at least a few hours. They must be completely dry in order to use.

  4. Step 4

Either by using store-bought confetti or by making colored paper bits of your own, fill your egg shells with confetti.

  5. Step 5

Glue a square of tissue paper over the large hole to seal it up.

  6. Step 6

Decorate as you wish! Please note that if you want the cascarones dyed, you would need to dye them as you would dye boiled eggs, before adding the confetti.

  7. Step 7

The last step is the fun part. Crack them over someone's head by surprise and cover them in confetti!
