This cure for the hiccups works so well that I was once called a witch by someone I shared it with. Try it yourself and see!

From Quick Guide: Hiccup Help
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water
  • Glass
  1. Step 1

Pour yourself a large glass of water.

  2. Step 2

With your left hand, place one finger between your collarbones toward the bottom of your throat. Hold it there firmly but not so much as to cause pain.

  3. Step 3

Take 13 tiny swallows of water in a row without taking a breath between each one.

  4. Step 4

Count to 30. If you no longer have hiccups, you are cured. This is typically enough to get rid of mine. If not, repeat as necessary or try the same procedure with a carbonated drink.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do not have luck with this cure using water, use a carbonated drink instead.

on 10/2/2009 I give you credit for this one, I believe it will work, because it is very close to a method I have use that has always worked for me and EVERYONE I have talked into trying it (drink water with a wire hanger under your tongue). I imagine both affect the same throat muscles or something.
