Celebrate the fall by studying the leaves more closely, and creating art at the same time! Making leaf rubbings is almost like making kiddie decoupage. After making leaf rubbings your child will have many colorful and natural looking pieces of art to add to your refrigerator collection. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Dried leaves
  • Paper
  • Crayons

Step1
Gather whole dried leaves from the ground outside that have interesting shapes or textures.
Step2
Carefully place the leaf under your sheet of clean white paper, gently holding the paper down around the leaf so that it does not move.
Step3
With the other hand, take your crayon or pencil and hold it slightly sideways so that you are not coloring down onto the leaf with force. Softly rub the surface of the paper.
Step4
You should be seeing the image of the leaf appear in color on your side of the paper. Move the leaf to another spot under the paper and try again with another color.
Step5
Repeat to make vivid and natural designs and patterns.
