He's ready--she's not in the mood. There could be many things going on that are turning her off. For possible causes of low sex drive in women and what can be done about them, read on.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Juggling work, family and other activities causes stress, and while men want sex as a stress reducer, tension turns women off. Being stressed makes a woman's body release cortisol which can cause a drop in testosterone levels. Since women produce less testosterone than men, they lose interest in sex easier than men. To help reduce stress, eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, get a full night of sleep, meditate, write your feelings down, rearrange your scedule, and have sex even when you don't feel like it. Believe it or not, it can relieve stress.
Step2
Check your medication. Antihistamines, high blood pressure pills, antidepressants, and birth control pills can lower testosterone levels. Ask your doctor about switching to different medications or lower doses, and use a different form of birth control such as pills that contain progestin, which acts more like testosterone, or condoms, diaphragms, or IUDs.
Step3
Not getting enough sleep disrupts sex hormones. Check your midicine to make sure it doesn't contain stimulants. Get a short-term prescription for sleeping pills. Use a sleep mask to block light. Use earplugs to block noise. Buy a comfortable mattress and pillow. If all else fails, see a sleep specialist.
Step4
Bladder problems may make women sensitive if they release urine during sex. Orgasm can interupt signals from the brain that tell the bladder not to go. If this is a problem, use the bathroom before sex and/or talk to your doctor about overactive bladder medication such as Detrol.
Step5
When women reach menopause 90% of estrogen, which causes lubrication and arousal, is lost. Sex can be painful as levels drop, and hot flashes, weight gain, mood swings, and fear of being old don't make women feel sexy. Talk to your doctor about medications such as topical testosterone to increase desire and estrogen cream to relieve vaginal dryness.
Step6
Having sex causes blood to flow to your genitals. The more you have, the more you want.

on 7/11/2008 Dear Jenn, please be patient with yourself. If you are stressed, then of course it will be hard for you to be into sex. you are not alone! but your sex drive will come back.. you need patience and kindness. take baby steps towards your health. As you start to step by step improving your diet, and lifestyle.. deep breathing, eating slower, slowing down, developing self-awareness.. your sex drive will emerge again.

don't let anyone pressure you or make you feel bad. a quick and easy book for you to read in the meantime that may help to give you a new perspective on all this is: Make Every Man Want You, by Marie Forleo. Although the book isn't about sex..it has a lot to do with your relationship with the world..and this affects your health..and hence sex drive. EVERYTHING is connected.

peace and love,
vandu
