1. Blogs are basically mini web sites which people can put up very quickly. This is the beauty of a blog it can be about anything as the time it takes to get one going is hardly any time at all. Now getting it to be successful depends on many different factors. One of the most important is where do you see your blog going. Do you want it to make you money? Or is it an outlet for your opinions? These are very important decisions.

2. Blogs are popular for many different reasons, but one of the things that people love is tons of fresh content. Let's go over that again. Fresh content means stuff that isn't found in other blogs or other places on the Internet. Content is king and the better your content the more people will gravitate to your blog.

3. Effort is a big part in many things and with blogs you must give great effort for it to be successful. Millions of blogs are put up every year with a small percentage being successful. Many times the effort you put in will determine your success rate.

4. The last thing you need besides great content and a consistent effort is traffic. Traffic is the lifeblood of your blog. Getting it and keeping it will take some work on your part. Putting your blog on various search engines and your signature file will help spread the word. Don't forget to use forums as they are a great way to spread the word about your great new blog.

5. As long as you bring great content and a consistent effort your blog will be a success. Remember though it usually takes around three months before you will really see results, so stick it out and become a blogger like many others have.
