How many times have you purchased a box of brown sugar, opened the box and used a small amount of the brown sugar and discovered not longer after that it is hard as a rock? In fact, it's so hard you cannot even break it with a hammer! Then out of frustration, you try everything imaginable to loosen up the sugar. Well fortunately there is a way to keep brown sugar soft every time you want to use it. Just follow these few simple steps and you can save yourself a lot of time and frustration.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Box brown sugar
  • Glass canning jar
  • Lid
  • Band

    Keep Brown Sugar Soft

  1. Step 1

    Open the box of brown sugar.

  2. Step 2

    Pour the brown sugar into the glass canning jar.

  3. Step 3

    Place the canning lid on the jar, then screw the band snugly onto the jar.

  4. Step 4

    Place the jar in your cupboard until ready to use.

Tips & Warnings
  • After you purchase a box of brown sugar, pour the brown sugar into a glass canning jar immediately after you get home, even if you do not plan to use the sugar right away. The sugar will stay soft and ready to use every time.
  • Putting the brown sugar into a glass canning jar will also prevent ants from getting into your sugar.
