Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Lots of resumes
- Walking shoes
Step1
Look at the classified section. The newspaper contains literally hundreds of job opportunities. Call around and see what kind of help the company is looking for. With this in mind, most businesses want their workers to stick around as long as possible. But if the company is ok knowing you’ll be gone in late August, then it’s a good sign they’ll hire a student.
Step2
Keep an open mind when applying. Your summer job isn’t going to be your career. If you can be open as to what types of jobs you’d be willing to do, you’ll increase the likelihood of getting hired in a timely manner.
Step3
Litter local businesses with respective copies of your resume. Walk up and down your neighborhood and drop off resume copies even to places that don’t have ‘now hiring’ signs. Doing so shows initiative. Who knows, you might get find an opening and get hired the same day.
Step4
Go online. Some newspapers publish additional job listings on their websites.
