How to Behave At a High School Reunion

High School reunions are always awkward. Most people lose touch with all but a select few in the months and years after graduation. Yet, for several hours, you are going to have to reminisce with these strangers about the uncomfortable four years that was high school. Don’t fret. These tips will help you handle yourself with a little dignity and self-respect.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Self Confidence
  • Maturity

Step1
Let it go. Ok, so you were bullied in high school. A reunion is not the place to confront the former football captain. What’s done is done. While you don’t need to necessarily be best friends with your enemies, you should suck it up for a few hours and be civil.
Step2
Stay interested in the small talk. If you have acquaintances, they might want to speak with you even if you don’t feel the same way. Again, be civil. You want people to walk away talking about how great it was to see you, not what a pretentious butthead you’ve turned into.
Step3
Be confident, but not cocky. Your old buds will be dying to know what you’ve been up to for the past 25 or so years. If in that time you climbed to the top of a Fortune 500 company, that’s great. But chances are not everyone was as successful. So be humble and let your accomplishments speak for themselves. If you really are a big deal, then people will already know it.
Step4
Open up. It may be another decade until you see that girl friend or guy friend you’ve secretly admired. Check in with them to see how they are doing.
