How to Relocate to Another State

Relocating to another state can be an exciting and also frightening experience. Here are some tips to make your move a positive adventure.

• Access to local newspapers and/or websites
• local map
• local telephone book
• emergency funds
• cell phone with reliable reception in new location

1. Depending mainly upon finances there are various ways to approach a move to a new state. I will approach this article with a low budget profile.
   The two most important considerations are income and residence. Make sure that these are set up in advance of your move.
2. Visit your new location before moving there to determine approximate area of relocation and basic living conditions i.e. costs, safety, etc.
3. Deposit a safety reserve fund into a local bank for emergency use only.
4. Map out local highways and get a sense of driving conditions.
5. Keep a local phone book with you in your car.
6. Notify family and friends of your new address and keep in touch with them on a regular basis.
7. Always have a backup plan in case your original plan fails for unforeseen reasons.
