Treat Oily Skin Naturally

Try these natural skin care treatments for oily skin. You don't have to always be the shiniest person in the room! If you suffer from acne, treating your oily skin can help clear up your pimples as well.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1
Blotting papers are one of my favorite skin care products.

Blotting papers are one of my favorite skin care products.

To quickly fix a shiny complexion cause by oily skin, always carry a translucent pressed powder and oil blotting papers. If you are in a pinch, use tissue or toilet paper by pressing against forehead, nose, and chin for a few seconds. Only blot, do not rub or you might clog your pores.

  2. Step 2
Improve your complexion with a natural astringent.

Try using natural astringents for shine-free clear skin such as:
    *Witch Hazel
*A mixture of apple juice and lime juice left on skin for 15 minutes, then rinsed. OR
*Massage a mixture of aloe vera and yogurt into skin, leave on for a few minutes then rinse.

Try steaming your face and neck as part of your healthy facial skin care routine. See my article on How to Purify Your Skin in the resources for instructions. Repeat once or twice a week.

  4. Step 4
Mud masks are a great oily skincare treatment.

Use a good clay mud mask to remove excess oil once a week for a healthy, clear complexion.

  5. Step 5

Fruit acids can be helpful in treating oily skin. Fruit acids attack the top layer of skin, remove dead skin cells and remove excess oil. Apple Cider Vinegar works well. Using a cotton ball, apply some apple cider vinegar to your skin after washing. Then apply a light weight facial moisturizer.

  6. Step 6

Make a mixture of lavender and distilled water in a spray bottle. Mist over skin throughout the day to reduce oily skin production.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have oily skin, you should cleanse your skin twice a day.

on 1/9/2008 Awesome ideas! I use blotting papers all the time. They work great. They're great to have with you when you're somewhere humid. I used them a lot when I was in NYC last summer.
