How to Teach Your Children Charity

Teaching children to have charity is easier than most people think. You do not have to spend a lot of time or money to show kids how to be charitable.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Items to donate
  • Large box or bag for donations
  • Spare change
  • Charity organization

Step1
When a child receives a new toy ask them to find a toy they no longer use. If the toy is in good condition ask the child to place it in the donation box/bag. This will teach the child to share. It will also keep the room from being overrun by forgotten toys. Charities welcome gently used toys.
Step2
When making a cash donation let the child do it. This could be donating a few cents in the donation box at McDonald's. If the child is old enough discuss what the donation is for.
Step3
If the child is old enough take them along to your volunteer activities. Let them participate when safe and practical. Children learn by example!

Tips & Warnings

  • Many charities have free pick up services.
  • Ask the charity to leave bags for the next donation.
