Want to sweep him of his feet? Just in time for the Valentine's day holiday learn how to pop the question in an unforgettable fashion.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
SEEK REFUGE! Go to a quiet place. This could be an office, basement or another room in your home or business. Do not be afraid to use your computer or the Internet. Also, keep distractions to a minimum while you write. Write for at least 15 minutes each time. Skip the days where you are not feeling well, are stressed or tired.

Light a candle, look through pictures of you two, reflect, pray, play music if time allows while you create your proposal.
Step2
BRAINSTORM! Put your pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard, and write down anything that comes to mind. You will be eliminating some ideas in this session and that is perfectly acceptable. Approach this step without fear and an open mind as well as an honest outlook. Look for anything to inspire you, including paging through bridal magazines at the library if that's what it takes. Interview family members such as parents, neighbors and grandparents about what was most memorable about their married lives. These ideas will help you to outline your proposal. Treat this just like you would a business proposal. Take it very seriously.
Step3
HIDE and TWEAK! If you are working on a computer or using Microsoft Office, save your work often and password protect the document for your own security. If it is hand-written in a notebook, hide the notebook or papers in an out of the way place such as a box, trunk or drawer.
Step4
WHAT DO YOU MEAN? Include what your boyfriend or girlfriend means to you. You could include how your life has changed and what a pleasant surprise it has been. Perhaps a glimpse of what your future family will be like would be a nice touch. And, of course, why you think marriage is a wonderful, healthy step, all with a little humor intermingled.
Flowers never hurt, but if you want it to be a surprise you may want to send them the day after. Emphasize your similar values, ideals, personalities, goals and interests.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not try to write it all at once; take it in baby steps. Allow as much time as you can, even a few months. This will vary on your schedule and inspiration to write.
  • Keep it somewhat brief and memorize as much as possible. Remember, you may be very emotional when your proposal time arrives.
  • Do not tell anyone you are doing this unless you are confident they will keep your secret!
  • Don't be too long-winded. You are writing your thoughts to make it stand out in her mind, not necessarily to convince the other person.
