Avocados are much better when ripe. Here is how to ripen one using a paper bag.

Things You'll Need:

  • Avocado (un-ripened)
  • Flour
  • Brown paper bag
  • Two says

    How to Ripen an Avocado

  1. Step 1

    Coat the inside of the brown paper bag with flour.

  2. Step 2

    Place the un-ripened avocado in the bag.

  3. Step 3

    Roll the top of the bag so it is secure.

  4. Step 4

    Place the bag in a pantry or cupboard.

  5. Step 5

    Check the avocado every 12 hours.

  6. Step 6

    Avocado will be ripe within 24-48 hours.

  7. Step 7

    Slice and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Enjoy an avocado right out of its own dish. Pour vinegar, sprinkle salt and pepper right into the seed opening. Great flavor and zing!
  • Try an avocado salad. Chunk the avocado. Add tomato, green onion, olives, feta cheese and your favorite Italian or Cesar dressing.
