Locals consider Key Largo the Diving Capital of the World, as the town is located next to North America's only living coral barrier reef. Take advantage of the unique location by planning a diving or snorkeling excursion. Be sure to visit the famed underwater statue of Christ of the Abyss, which is so close to the water's surface that it can be viewed by snorkelers.

Film buffs will want to go to the Holiday Inn Marina, which is home to the original African Queen boat. The boat was featured in the "African Queen" starring Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn and is on display free of charge. Rides can also be arranged.

Spend the day at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. Visit the park's informative visitor's center and aquarium, or take a glass-bottom boat tour to see coral reef.
