Are you cleaning up your hard drive and want to put your files on a CD? Or maybe you jut want to back up those much needed files. This article will show you the basic steps for transferring a computer file onto a CD for storage.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Blank CD-RW for non-media files
  • Blank CD-R for media files

Step1
Decide what type of CD to use. There are two types of CDs you can use for storage, the CD-RW and the CD-R. The CD-RW can only be used to store non-media files-this means no photos, videos or audio files. The CD-R can be used to store both media and non-media files.
Step2
Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive. Next locate the files you will want to store on the CD by opening the folder(s) they are located in. You're almost there!
Step3
Open the folder for the CD's files by opening the folder named Computer in the start menu, then double-clicking on the CD's file. Next, simply drag and drop the files you want to store into the CD file. If you no longer need these files on the computer you can now delete them. Then simply remove the CD.
