How to Make Vegan Alfredo Sauce

With this thick, rich vegan version, there is no need to sacrifice the creamy texture or cheesy flavor of traditional Alfredo sauce. Serve over pasta or steamed green beans, asparagus, stuffed mushrooms, mashed potatoes or any other vegetable of your choice.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • ½ cup vegan margarine
  • 1 to 2 tbsp. cornstarch
  • One 8-oz vegan cream cheese
  • 1 cup soy or rice milk
  • ¼ cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • Salt and pepper
  1. Step 1

    Melt vegan margarine in large saucepan on medium heat. Add cornstarch and stir with whisk until thickened. Add additional cornstarch if necessary.

  2. Step 2

    Once vegan margarine and cornstarch have thickened, add vegan cream cheese. Melt, stirring continuously.

  3. Step 3

    Once vegan cream cheese is melted and mixed with margarine and cornstarch mixture, add soy or rice milk, nutritional yeast and garlic.

  4. Step 4

    Stir continuously while simmering on medium heat until hot.

  5. Step 5

    Add salt and pepper to taste and serve your vegan Alfredo sauce over your favorite pasta.

Tips & Warnings
  • If desired, serve your vegan Alfredo sauce over pasta with sauteed or steamed vegetables and tofu, ground soy meat or soy meatballs.
