One of the most important things about running a successful business is to get paid by your customers. This one simple action will determine how successful you are in your new business venture. As you provide customers with much needed products and services, they will rewardingly pay you for your business efforts. Although this is a great system, there will be times that you will experience difficulties with this process. Dealing with non-paying customers is a hassle; but these tips you help you accomplish this task easily.

Step1
Think like a customer when it comes to paying bills. Although this is a necessary task, some customers will constantly put it off until the last minute. Paying bills is not always a glamorous thing. In order to prompt your customers to pay you in a timely manner, consider making it easier for them to do so. Customers will do the easiest task first and save the hardest one for the last minute. If you provide your customers with countless easy ways to pay you, then they will not run from you during payment time.

Improve your relationship with your customers. Once they begin to see you as a person just like them, they will be more willing to pay you. Since everyone needs their money when it is due, your customers will gladly ship off your money. Anytime your business is viewed as an inhuman operating device that looks at customers as numbers, you will have problems with bill collection. Appeal to their soft side and you will notice major differences in the way your customers pay you.

Make your invoices easy to understand. No one wants to pay for services they do not comprehend. Explain everything in simple and basic terms. Including fancy codes and business terms will cause the customer to become extremely suspicious. Instead of having to fight with your customers each month because of the wording of your invoices, keep everything in layman's terms. Doing this will almost guarantee a prompt and timely payment when it is due.

Bill for services or products in reasonable amounts. Waiting until the customer racks up a large bill will almost certainly cause them to delay payment. Billing for your services or products in smaller increments will allow them to make these affordable payments without putting them off. Although it may not be logical to pay the smaller bills before the larger ones, most customers do this. It doesn't hurt so bad when you are paying a smaller amount than an enormous one.

Make the terms of your invoices clear. If you would prefer for a customer to make a payment to your business on a certain date, then include that specific date on it. Allowing the customer to think that they have much more time to pay for services or products, when in fact they don't is too confusing. In order to save you from the hassle of disputing due dates, place the exact due date on the invoice. Another great way to encourage customers to make timely payments is to offer discount incentives if they pay early.
