From Quick Guide: Southern Cooking
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cans of pork and beans
  • 2 tbsp. chopped onions
  • 1 tbsp. chopped green peppers
  • 1 tsp. mustard
  • 2 tbsp. of brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. of liquid smoke
  • Ketchup (add to taste)
  • Bacon
  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Open cans of pork and beans and drain excess fluid. Some fluid is fine but you don't want too much.

  2. Step 2

Chop up onion and green pepper, mix in with beans.

  3. Step 3

Stir in mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and liquid smoke.

  4. Step 4

Add in ketchup to taste. Start with about 1/4 of a cup and taste, add more if you'd like.

  5. Step 5

Pour into baking dish. Place two to three slices of bacon (cut in half) on top of beans. Place in oven. Cook for about one hour.

Tips & Warnings
  • Let beans cool for a few minutes before serving.
