Forgetfulness is a very common problem. It’s easy to forget some of the simplest things, especially when you lead a busy life. You may think that there’s nothing you can do to get rid of forgetfulness, but there are lots of things that can help. But it does take some work, and it won’t go away on its own. Read on to learn how to combat forgetfulness.

From Quick Guide: Stay Young
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get plenty of rest. Fatigue is a frequent cause of forgetfulness. When our minds have not had enough rest, they can’t retrieve information as efficiently. So it is very important that we get a good night’s sleep each and every night.

  2. Step 2

Keep a to-do list. The simple act of writing things down is often enough to cement things into our memories. Then we may not even need to look at the list. But in the event that we do, it is there for us to fall back on.

  3. Step 3

Use your brain regularly. By keeping our brains active, we can help them work better. And that means a better memory and better problem solving skills. Ways you can keep your brain active include doing puzzles and brainteasers, and learning new things.

  4. Step 4

Use rhymes or other techniques to help yourself remember things. It may seem silly, but it’s quite effective. If you have trouble with names, for example, think of a word that rhymes with the name of each new person you meet. Repeat the name and the rhyming word to yourself a few times, and you will find that it’s easier to remember.

  5. Step 5

Pay more attention to things. Sometimes we forget because we simply didn’t pay enough attention when we first acquired the information. Repeat or write down information that you think you’ll need later if you think it will help. This will also force you to make sure you understood everything correctly.

on 10/8/2008 Make sure you eat a balanced diet and chew it properly, in some cases you might need supplements, Vitamin B6, niacin and maybe others in small amounts, but a balanced diet is best5. All the above mentioned methods help. Think where you put the key at the moment you put it somewhere, as said above: pay more attention to details. Then you can get old as I am and have a better memory than people 30 years younger. We all need help here and there, but must realize when we need help. No one else can do it for us. Ehow.com helps in many ways, because it is used by poeople who want to help.
