Surprising the one you love with a bouquet of flowers is always a sweet gesture. But what if your sweetheart has a sweet tooth? You could go the traditional box of chocolates route, or you could make a delicious flower-themed cookie bouquet.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Refrigerated sugar cookie dough
  • Premade white icing
  • Food coloring
  • Thin wooden craft dowels of varying lengths
  • Cookie sheet
  • Small- to medium-sized flower shaped cookie cutters
  • Rolling pin
  • Cooling rack
  • Sandwich size zip-top bags
  • Scissors
  • Small woven basket
  • Floral foam
  • Paper grass
  1. Step 1

Preheat your oven according to the cookie package directions.

  2. Step 2

Roll out the sugar cookie dough into a thin layer, a little less than ¼-inch thick.

  3. Step 3

Cut out flower shapes using your cookie cutters. You’ll want to cut double the amount of flowers that you plan to have in your bouquet.

  4. Step 4

Place a layer of flowers on your cookie sheet, lay a craft stick on each flower then cover each one with another flower. Lightly press down on each cookie to seal in the stick.

  5. Step 5

Bake the cookies according to the package directions. Keep an eye on the cookies near the end of the baking time, making sure to pull them out when the edges begin to brown.

  6. Step 6

Pull the cookies out of the oven when they are finished and place on a cooling rack. Cool completely.

  7. Step 7

Mix the white icing with food coloring colors then ice the completely cooled cookies. Place extra icing in zip-top bags then snip one corner to create a pastry bag. Pipe icing onto each cookie to create details.

  8. Step 8

Allow the icing on the cookies to dry.

  9. Step 9

Place floral foam inside the woven basket.

  10. Step 10

Arrange the cookies in the basket by poking each stick into the floral foam, varying the height of each cookie for visual interest.

  11. Step 11

Place paper grass over the floral foam and between the cookie sticks.

  12. Step 12

Give the cookie basket to your sweetheart.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may need to add some weight to the bottom of your basket to prevent tipping if you have a lot of cookies in the bouquet.
