We usually only associate chestnuts with Christmas songs, but this sweet dessert might change all that.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 lbs. chestnuts, blanched
  • 5 Rome Beauty apples
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tbs. butter
  • 2 tbs. plum jelly
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tbs. vanilla
  • ¼ cup water
  1. Step 1

Peel apart the blanched chestnuts, then boil again. Remove them from the water, drain on paper towels and mash into a pulp, removing all lumps.

  2. Step 2

Mix the water, vanilla and sugar and chestnut pulp and stir. Spread this around the edge of a plate.

  3. Step 3

Boil the apples until tender, mash them into a pulp, also removing all lumps. Stir in plum jelly, butter and cinnamon, then spoon this onto the middle of the plate.
