Step1
When Voldemort made his first bid for control of the wizarding world in the late 1970s/early 1980s, the esteemed wizard and Headmaster of Hogwarts School, Albus Dumbledore, founded a secret intelligence and combat cell composed of the most talented wizards who opposed Voldemort. This first group included Aberforth Dumbledore, brother of Albus and proprietor of the Hog's Head tavern in Hogsmeade; The “Marauders,”
a gang of mischievous former Hogwarts students who were also Animagi—shape-shifters who could turn into specific animals. The gang consisted of Sirius “Padfoot” Black, a member of the evil wizarding family of Black, James “Prongs” Potter, father of Harry, Remus John “Moony” Lupin, future Hogwarts professor and Peter “Wormtail” Pettigrew, who betrayed the Potters to Voldemort; Rubeus Hagrid, half-giant and gameskeeper/groundskeeper at Hogwarts; Frank and Alice Longbottom,
members of a prominent wizarding family. They were tortured into madness by Death Eaters. Their son Neville was mostly bumbling, awkward and forgetful while in school, yet he later proved himself to be one of the bravest heroes in the second war against Voldemort; Severus Snape,
Hogwart's Potions Master and one-time Death Eater, his lifelong love for Lily Evans Potter caused him to undertake the extremely dangerous task of working as a double agent in the Voldemort camp; Minerva McGonegal, deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts, Animagus and Transfiguration Professor;
Alastor “Mad-eye” Moody, legendary Auror, or hunter of evil wizards, known for his bizarre-looking magical eye; Lily Evans Potter,
wife of James Potter, who died protecting her baby, Harry. Her love created a counter-curse that prevented Voldemort from killing her son, and also kept Voldemort in a non-corporeal form for several years;
Fabian and Gideon Prewitt, the brothers of Molly Prewitt Weasley, they died bravely during the first war with Voldemort; Arabella Figg,
an eldery Squib, or wizard/witch lacking magical powers, she was assigned to the task of watching over Harry as he grew up with his relatives, the Dursleys. Other members of the first incarnation of the Order were Edgar Bones, Benjy Fenwick, Marlene McKinnon, Sturgis Podmore, Dedalus Diggle, Emmeline Vance, Dorcas Meadowes, Caradoc Dearborn and Elphias Doge.
Step2
Snape, both Dumbledores, Black, Lupin, Moody, McGonegal, Figg and Hagrid all returned to the re-formed Order in the 1990s. The second Order also included the following: Arthur, Molly, Bill, Charlie, Fred, George and Fleur Delacour Weasley, members of an old, but poor wizarding family. Arthur was a Ministry of Magic employee, his wife, Molly, was essentially the Order's den mother. Their sons and daughter-in-law all took an active part in the resistance efforts. George lost an ear during the war. All the Weasleys, including another son, Percy, fought at the Battle of Hogwarts, where Fred Weasley was killed.
Hestia Jones

Kingsley Shackebolt
A Ministry guard, Auror and postwar Minister of Magic.
Nymphadora Tonks
An Auror and Order guard, wife of Remus Lupin, mother of Teddy Lupin, she was killed with her husband at the Battle of Hogwarts.
Mundungus Fletcher
A thief and not entirely dependable member of the Order, he helps Snape and Dumbledore in some ways, but he also left Moody vulnerable to attack.
