Secure your doors. According to NACHI, 34 percent of burglars enter right through the front door, while 22 percent come in through the back door. Install deadbolt locks on all exterior doors, and make sure that the doors are all constructed of steel or solid wood.

2
Plant bushes under your windows that have thorns in them. This will prevent the burglar from trying to get in through the window. This is important because 23 percent of burglars enter through a window on the first floor, according to NACHI.
