How to Create a Custom Baby Book

New parents love to fill out baby books for their children to look back on when they grow up. Unfortunately, many baby books are filled with pages asking for information that you may not really care to write down, such as the date little Samantha used her first pacifier or how old baby Seth was when he sat in the high chair for the first time. When you create your own custom baby book you can add only the memories you treasure.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Small scrapbook
  • Themed scrapbook paper
  • Scrapbook embellishments
  • Paper trimmer
  • Photo corners
  • Mounting squares
  • Computer
  • Printer
  • Notepad
  • Pen

Step1
Flip through some baby books to see you’d like to put in your customized version. Some baby books have places to record dates of various memorable events, others have small pockets for hospital I.D. bracelets or a lock of your baby’s hair. Some have places to record your thoughts as your baby hits a milestone.
Step2
Write down your favorite ideas from the books you looked at and add anything that you’d like to include that you didn’t see in the baby books at the store.
Step3
Add to your list any milestones, important events and holidays that you’d like to remember with a photo.
Step4
Organize your list by date, with the events and milestones that are likely to happen first at the top of the list.
Step5
Figure out how many pages you’ll want to dedicate to each item on your list.
Step6
Decorate the pages of the scrapbook with themed paper and embellishments.
Step7
Type headings for each section of the baby book, such as “Samantha’s Christening” or “Seth’s First Steps." Choose a fun font to print out the headings. Cut out each heading, using your paper trimmer, and then affix them to the appropriate pages of the scrapbook with mounting squares.
Step8
Place photos on the appropriate pages using photo corners. You'll be adding photos as your baby’s life progresses. Consider this to be a work in progress.
Step9
Type and print your thoughts about various events, holidays and milestones. Cut out each note with the paper trimmer and affix to the appropriate pages with mounting squares.
Step10
Place small items in pockets glued to the end of your baby book.
Step11
Store the finished book in a safe place, and then share it with your child when she has grown.
