You're going through your party checklist. You've got your DJ, your Location, Your balloons and streamers, and even the right onion dip for your ruffles potato chips. But you have a nagging feeling that something is missing.... not EVERYONE likes to dance.... they cant keep eating forever.... and some of your guests don't make very good small talk..... what are you gonna do for great entertainment? Good thing I KNOW!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A cell phone
  • A computer with an Internet Connection
  • A couple of dollars in your bank account

Step1
FIND A GREAT LIVE ENTERTAINER.
I have honestly attended thousands of parties over the past few years from simple backyard affairs to high priced corporate events in 5 star restaurants and aboard private yachts. The one thing Ive noticed that make all these parties successful, is great live entertainment. You want your guests to be engaged, you want to have something that will get them talking, and something that they can take away with them.
Step2
YOU NEED A CARICATURE ARTIST.
Caricature artists make excellent entertainers because the top ones not only are able to draw quickly, but are also engaging and funny. Most caricature artists I've met are able to engage people in lively ways that help them to get a conversation going. This is important at a party where you want people to loosen up. Some people are shyer than most, and will sometimes hang around the artist. thats GOOD. It keeps them occupied and from feeling awkward. Also, at the end of the night, your guests have a keepsake that will remind them of their memorable night.
Step3
FIND AN ARTIST
I happen to be a caricature artist so heres a place for a shameless plug: You can find my work at
www.subwaysurfer.blogspot.com
Its jammed packed with a variety of samples.
SO as not to be too biased, you can also search for top quality caricature entertainers by going to this site.
www.caricature.org
This is the site of The National Caricaturists Network Its nationwide and you can browse the site for artists in your area to find out their rates.
Caricature entertainment costs between $75-$150 per hour, but the price is really well worth it.

Tips & Warnings

  • When searching for an artist ALWAYS ask to see their PARTY SAMPLES. This is important because a lot of artists will post their best work that took them HOURS to do instead of minutes. You want someone who is able to draw quickly and humourously.
  • A good caricature artist should be able to draw 15-20 pictures per hour. There are some who can draw 20-30 which is even better.
  • Some artists may require deposits and travel fees. Be sure to check each artist's individual policies.
  • If possible, meet with the artist. You want to work with someone that you have a good vibe with, and one who your clients or guests may feel comfortable with.
