Choosing a name for your little bundle of joy can be a very difficult and stressful task. By following these steps the process will be a little easier.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Book of Baby Names
  • Pen or Pencil
  • Paper
  • Patience

Step1
First, both parents need to look through the baby name book separately and make lists of possible name choices.
Step2
Both parents then exchange lists and cross off names that they absolutely don't like.
Step3
You may need to repeat steps one and two more than once. These books are pretty long and some names inevitably get overlooked the first time through.
Step4
Discuss, discuss, discuss. It will take a lot of talking to finally agree on a name but hang in there. Always remember, your child has to live with this name for the rest of his or her life so try not to get too creative.
Step5
Finally, have fun and enjoy the excitement that this time brings and if you can't agree on one name choose two and wait until baby is born to make the final decision.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember that you have to pick a first and middle name so if you can't agree on one choice, compromise, one parent can choose the first name and the other can choose the middle.
  • This process can cause arguments and bring out things you didn't know about your partner, such as an obsession with all things that rhyme.
